A Walsall Councillor has welcomed the £6 million increase in Walsall council funding and praised the Government on “getting it right”.
This increase follows significant Government investment in local services announced at this year’s Budget. The Government is giving councils £650 million for social care next year – building on the £240 million announced to relieve winter pressures on the NHS, £420 million to tackle potholes and £84 million more for children’s social care.
Commenting, Cllr Adam Hicken said:
“I am thrilled to see that the hard work that has taken place over the last few years is being recognized in the £6 million increase in funding for Walsall. The Government has got it right with this and we need to make sure that we don’t waste this extra money.
Residents need to feel the benefit and I will do my part to lobby the administration in making sure that this money goes exactly where it’s needed”.
